When Charlie sees this, he pretends to fully support whatever eases her pain, but flies into a rage and chews out Alan for meddling in his fiancée’s body once she leaves for work. Though Charlie claims he hates seeing her hurt, he strongly opposes the surgery, insisting her figure is perfect as it is. Later, Chelsea gets a call from the plastic surgeon offering an early appointment the next day due to a cancellation. Panicked, Charlie begs her to hold off, arguing he deserves a say in the choice that affects them both. Annoyed that Charlie cares more about her appearance than her pain, Charlie clumsily jokes smaller breasts would draw attention to her rear, using a silly landscaping analogy to justify his stance. Offended by his ridiculous reasoning, Chelsea cancels the surgery and resolves to endure her back pain instead, much to Charlie’s secret relief.
